The Take Back Africa Foundation is a nonprofit founded in 2018 in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota with a mission of pan-africanism across the African diaspora. As Africans living in the diaspora, we are fortunate to benefit from all that African Americans have fought and died for in the fight for civil and equal rights. We are also subjected to racial injustice because of this. In response to the overwhelming amount of viral videos involving Black Death we are speaking out against police brutality and demanding justice for Daunte Wright, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Arianna Jefferson and Ahmad Arbery.
On Sunday, April 11th, a police officer fatally shot Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center, Minn. during a traffic stop, about 10 miles from where Derek Chauvin is on trial in the killing of George Floyd. Police brutality disproportionally affects black people in America. Data collected by the Washington Post on the use of lethal force by police officers since 2015 indicates that, blacks are overrepresented among all those killed by police. Blacks made up 12% of the US population. However, from 2015 – 2019 they accounted for 26.4% of those that were killed by police under all circumstances. As Africans living in America, we must acknowledge this as the reality. This is the reality of what it means to be black in America. As a predominantly African Diaspora organization, we’ve continued and will continue to take stand against police brutality against black bodies in America. We also see the necessity to start having conversations about racism on the continent. It is important to educate our people interested in traveling abroad about the racial realities that comes with living in the United States.
To help support Daunte’s family, get involved in these different ways:
Everyone has a role to play in this movement for equality and justice. If 2021 has shown us anything, it’s that “normal” is not something we should strive to get back to. If you would like to keep up with what TBA is doing to support BLM and our communities, please feel free to follow us on social media and check our website for updates. We thank you for your support, and we look forward to continuing to work together to help make lasting and positive change for generations to come. Black Lives Matter.

The Take Back Africa Foundation (TBA) hosted its first virtual event of the year via the social media platform CLUBHOUSE.
CLUBHOUSE is a conversational based app which provides only audio, no video or chat. TBA can make a room and invite peers and strangers to talk about how to keep the movement alive after Black History Month, through a Pan-african lense. TBA could also potentially partner with other big groups on CH.It’s a virtual event.
This event was a Take Back Africa Foundation discussion on: What does WAKANDA in 2021 look like for the Pan-Africanist movement? How do we keep the movement alive post black history month?
